He’s going to turn fucking five in three months! Oh my! And start school! So I did a photoset for Throwback Thursday and it reminded me of how long it’s been since I entered the world of being Isaac’s mom. I feel old. Being a mom’s hard. Being a young mom’s hard. Being a teen mom’s hard. Being a parent’s hard. But it’s so fucking rewarding. I love this kid more than anything and he’s always there to shove his shoulder in my eye socket when I cry and give me bear hugs when i’m down. And to laugh and smile with when the good times come around. He’s my second player! He misses me when i’m not around and makes those weird little kid efforts to make me feel appreciated. He’s my rock! I went to a good school for him and finally got a good job to support us in a few months! He’s my best friend and my motivation. Overall, he’s the fucking bomb. We can’t wait for him to start school and his own little social life. It’s a reminder that babies grow up and become their own people. We’ve gone through a lot but having him around to swap secrets and make hideous sock puppets is rad. I love being a mom even though seeing him grow up makes me sad sometimesimage

And the gross comfortability that comes from being in a relationship for awhile.

I have this forever growing list of things I should get over before 2014.
Have you even been in love? Horrible, isn’t it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens your heart and it means that someone can get up inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses. You build up this whole armor, for years, so nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life. You give them a piece of you. They don’t ask for it. They do something dumb one day like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn’t your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness so a simple phrase like ‘Maybe we should just be friends’ or ‘How very perceptive’ turns into a glass splinter working it’s way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It’s a soul-hurt, a body-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. Nothing should be able to do that. Especially not love. I hate love.
